Another case where the camera was clearly set up to figure out how the little shit was pulling it off
A Zoisite Frog Carving, Gerd Dreher, Idar-Oberstein, Germany
formed from a single piece of layered zoisite and black hornblende rough, the frog is artfully carved in a tense position as if ready to leap, the speckled mottled green zoisite realistically depicting frog skin, the musculature and form accurately rendered, the eyes inset with cabochon black and golden accents, the black base showing a lower layer of zoisite. Hand inscribed: (Maker's mark GD for Gerd Dreher).

for all the folks asking why all the sad birthday drawings, 1. I love tormenting my audience, 2. I had a lot of sad birthdays growing up, was bullied and often forgot about, and I feel like birthdays are pretty much destin to be depressing unless you take the reins and choose to have a good one. Maybe your class all ignores you, but, there’s always cool bugs to enjoy if you go look for them!!
'people have always been people' goes for simple human compassion & humor but only if it also means understanding that historical people have always been as complex and nuanced and innovative as they are now. their food and clothing and language and tools, particularly of ordinary people, however different than you're used to, should not be assumed to represent cultural inferiority or that those people had inferior tastes or intelligence or capacity for feeling than you do
